A Need For Worker Power

The Virtual Talent Cooperative (VTC) was the natural conclusion to an industry with a vested interest in favoring profit over the wellbeing of the creators who generated it. The project to replace traditional agencies with a fair labor solution began in 2022 with our founder, Wayneright.

VTC is a soft agency offering management, brand strategy, and long-term support for Vtubers who demonstrate a real desire to have a career in entertainment. We believe that content creation is a valid, legitimate career, and that creators deserve a dignified, reliable income.

Members of the cooperative contribute to the collective with a revenue split, and enjoy a profit dividend in addition to the shared benefits of the collective. We value solidarity, equality, and good-faith collaboration.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the co-op?

We are a member-owned and member-operated organization built around shared resources, democratic decision-making, and community values. Our mission is to make Vtubing a reliable, dignified career by helping our members grow their brand, learn evergreen skills, and earn a living wage.

How is a co-op different from a traditional business?

Unlike traditional businesses, co-ops are owned and governed by their members. Each member typically has an equal vote in decisions, rather than power being tied to financial investment. Under a traditional business model, external shareholders influence decisions, often resulting in worse conditions for the workers in pursuit of higher profits. Cooperatives forgo outside investors to keep conditions in the hands of the people who participate in co-op activities.

Who can join?

Applications are open to content creators over the age of 18, from any geographic area. We strive to be inclusive and accessible to all who align with our mission, and have demonstrated the ability and willingness to make Vtubing their career.

How do I become a member?

To join, you can audition during designated periods announced on our social media pages. Successful applicants will move onto an interview, after which the Board of Directors will review their audition and decide to approve or deny the application.

Is there a membership fee?

Yes. Members contribute a one-time consideration fee for their share of the business. Members also contribute monthly with a scaling revenue split, similar to other agencies. These contributions sustain the business, and allow us to afford tools, fund projects, and pay our staff a living wage.

What are the responsibilities of members?

Members are expected to:

  • Participate in decision-making (e.g., voting, meetings)

  • Work with their manager in a timely manner

  • Abide by the bylaws of the co-op

Can I leave the co-op?

Yes. Members may leave at any time, following our exit process. Any refundable equity or fees will be handled according to our policies.

How are decisions made?

We use a democratic process, depending on the impact of the decision. Proposals that affect the whole of the co-op in ways that affect revenue will be brought to the general assembly to vote for or against. Other decisions are left to our board of directors or president to resolve.

Who runs the co-op day-to-day?

Operations are handled by our Board of Directors, President, and empowered committees.

How can I get involved?

Members can join committees, attend meetings, volunteer for projects, or take on leadership roles. Board members and Presidents are elected annually by the General Assembly.

How is the co-op funded?

We are funded through membership fees, partnerships with other companies, and grants or donations.

Are profits distributed?

Surplus, after reserves are set aside, are distributed to members based on contribution at the end of each fiscal year. The more you contribute, the larger your share of the profit distribution will be.

What values guide the co-op?

We are guided by principles such as:

  • Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion

  • Mutual benefit

  • Solidarity in Community

  • Good-faith collaboration

What happens if there’s a conflict?

We follow a structured conflict resolution process focused on communication, mediation, and fairness. We always attempt good faith resolutions before escalating.

Can non-members participate or visit?

Yes! Non-members can join our Discord and enjoy the community there. Some channels or benefits may be exclusive to members.
